GEM Partnership is delighted to be exclusively working with Sunderland AFC in their recruitment of a Senior Administrator, reporting to the Chief Business Officer.

Sunderland AFC was formed in 1879 and has won six top-flight titles in the First Division. Under new ownership since May 2023, and following their promotion to the Premier League, these are exciting times for the Club and this appointment will play a central role in the co-ordination and organisation of a range of duties to help the smooth running of operations.

The Role:

The Senior Administrator will be responsible for a varied and wide range of tasks including:

  • Assist the Executive team and the CBO with daily administration and initiatives for the Club.
  • Oversee special projects as directed by the executive team, ensuring deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.
  • Supporting the day-to-day administration across various departments within the Club.
  • Implement process within the role and within departments.
  • Ensuring administrative systems and processes are efficient and well-managed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management, board and external meetings
  • Organising and managing meetings and events including VIP guest lists, parking requirements and tickets
  • Co-ordinating diaries and arranging travel/accommodation
  • Liaising with members of the football community, which includes senior executives, and stakeholder outside of the Club.
  • Attending matches, conferences and networking events as required
  • Other relevant tasks as directed by the CBO and/or other members of the Executive Team

The Candidate:

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong track record in administration who can demonstrate:

  • Stellar track record in a similar Administrator role
  • Exceptional communication at all levels, proficient in verbal and written communication, with the ability to represent the CBO effectively.
  • Discretion and Confidentiality, handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Remaining calm under pressure and able to react when circumstances change at pace
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team when required
  • Understanding of the need for compliance with relevant policies and procedures
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Professional and friendly demeanour
  • Thorough attention to detail and discretion
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Flexibility regarding working hours (i.e. evening and weekend matchdays)
