Zenith People are working with our client who are looking to recruit an experienced EHS Compliance & Assurance Manager on a permanent basis to lead audit programs, compliance tracking, KPI reporting, and action management. This high-impact leadership role will oversee environmental, health, and safety assurance activities, ensuring adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and upper-tier COMAH regulations.

As a trusted advisor within the SHEQ department, you’ll lead a team of EHS Audit & Compliance Support Engineers, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and regulatory engagement.

Key Responsibilities

As an EHS Compliance & Assurance Manager, you will:

  • Lead EHS Compliance & Assurance Strategy, ensuring all audit, tracking, and reporting activities align with regulatory standards and business objectives.
  • Develop and oversee audit programs, ensuring adherence to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and COMAH regulations.
  • Manage KPI tracking, monitoring environmental and safety performance metrics to drive continuous improvements.
  • Oversee compliance tracking and action management, ensuring all corrective measures are completed efficiently.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring thorough preparation and execution across departments.
  • Lead regulatory reporting, engaging with environmental agencies, auditors, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Support and guide EHS Audit & Compliance Support Engineers, mentoring and ensuring audit processes are effectively managed.
  • Ensure alignment with sustainability frameworks, managing compliance with carbon trading, ESOS, and environmental policy updates.
  • Implement training and awareness programs, ensuring the business maintains a strong compliance culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring environmental, health, and safety standards evolve with regulatory and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience in EHS compliance, audit management, and assurance within a COMAH-regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, British & European environmental legislation, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to engage with regulators, auditors, and key industry stakeholders, ensuring alignment with environmental policies.
  • Leadership experience, managing and guiding audit teams while driving compliance excellence.
  • Expertise in KPI monitoring, audit coordination, compliance reporting, and corrective action management.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ensuring audit findings translate into actionable improvements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence change and drive business-wide compliance culture.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, audit management systems, and environmental performance tracking tools.
