SUMMARY OF POST
The Head of Commercial Development is responsible for the commercial and sponsorship activities of the Institute of Hospitality. This role involves fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team culture to maximise commercial opportunities, secure sponsorships, and effectively manage relationships with all stakeholders to support the Institutes strategic goals.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES
The Head of Commercial Development will drive the Institutes financial growth through effective commercial strategies. This includes developing and expanding commercial activities, securing sponsorships, and boosting revenue through strategic partnerships, business development, and impactful events.
The key focus will be to:
Contribute to the development of the business plan and take ownership of the commercial budget and business plan by managing and monitoring the budget which underpins the business plan;
- Profile target groups, for the promotion of group and sponsored partnership schemes, identify needs and develop appropriate solutions;
- Develop new business, across commercial partnerships and events, and ensure the maintenance of the existing business partnership portfolio:
- Create sponsorship opportunities to fund all Institute events, and negotiate competitive rates for catering, venues and sundry in order to maximise profit at events;
- Deliver creative and commercial aspects of Institute events, overseeing the running of all flagship Institute events;
- Post-event sponsorship reconciliation through event debriefs held with all stakeholders;
- Produce quantitative research for the performance of commercial activities as requested;
- To undertake any reasonable request outside of this job description;
- Carry out all duties and responsibilities in line with the Institutes Articles of Association and Bye Laws.

Person Specification;
- Business degree or other relevant qualification;
- Excellent numeric and analytical skills;
- Experience with digital campaigns;
- Proven track record of delivering and meeting tight deadlines
- Must be comfortable with a mix of strategic and 'hands on' work;
- Willingness to travel when business requires;
Desirable;
- Hospitality industry experience
- Experience of working in a membership body
- Experience of analysing and manipulating research/data information
- Understanding of professional bodies and their role within their industry sector;
