The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos. They are a Restorative Practice, Autism Friendly and a Rights Respecting School and They are looking for an outstanding individual who is looking to progress within the Teaching Assistant role to lead a small group provision for pupils with ALN.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Additional Learning Needs Coordinator and within an agreed system of supervision, to plan and implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in the school's own specialist provision, and where planned in mainstream classes. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management and preparation of resources.
This is a full-time position starting in September for a full academic year for the right person.
Qualiifications
- Very good literacy/numeracy skills
- NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Training in relevant learning strategies for pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties or a commitment to undergo relevant training
- Specialist skills/training in curriculum or learning area e.g. bi-lingual, sign language, ICT, speech and languageÂ
- Appropriate first aid training.
Experience
- Extensive experience of working with pupils who have speech, language and communication difficulties within an STF or specialist setting
- Experience of working to support pupils with ALN in the mainstream setting
- Experience of planning and delivering learning to small groups in a primary setting
- Experience of working with a senior leader to deliver a specialist provision and support for pupils with additional learning needs
