Youth Worker within Schools

We’re looking for a dedicated and supportive Youth Worker within Schools to join a specialist SEN environment in Swindon. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence and develop key life and social skills within an education setting.

The Role – Youth Worker within Schools

As a Youth Worker within Schools, you will play a hands-on role supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. Your work will focus on building trust, promoting positive choices and helping pupils engage with learning. In this Youth Worker position, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Help students with SEMH needs, ASD, communication difficulties or learning challenges manage their day positively.

  • Encourage pupils to participate in lessons, activities and social opportunities.

  • Support emotional regulation, independence and resilience.

  • Assist with daily routines and personal care where required (full training can be provided).

  • Build strong, consistent relationships with students to help them develop confidence.

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads and other support staff to follow behaviour and support plans.

Every day is different, and as a Youth Worker within Schools, your role is crucial in helping students feel safe, settled and supported.

Requirements for the Youth Worker within Schools Role

To be considered for this Youth Worker within Schools opportunity, you should:

  • Be patient, resilient and confident working with young people.

  • Have experience supporting children or teenagers (youth work, coaching, care, mentoring or school experience all welcome).

  • Be comfortable supporting pupils with additional needs and varied emotional or behavioural needs.

  • Be able to build positive, consistent relationships.

  • Preferably hold a DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to complete one.

  • Be open to ongoing training and development.

Salary

£445 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
