Nurture Support Staff Wanted!

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing and dynamic team, focussing on the Nurture aspects of support tailored to individual needs within a large specialist day school located in Taunton. The SEMH school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. We focus on holistic development, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering personalized lessons and activities tailored to the unique needs and abilities of students with SEMH, ensuring all learners can access and benefit from the curriculum.
  • Support diverse teaching strategies and resources to engage students with Autism and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and external professionals to develop comprehensive support plans and interventions for students with complex needs.
  • Monitor student progress diligently, regularly assessing learning outcomes and assisting in adapting teaching methods to optimize academic success and personal growth.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, offering pastoral care and guidance to enhance their social and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour, and actively participate in review meetings and consultations with parents/carers.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working in educational settings, ideally with KS3 or KS4 students.
  • Strong dedication to meeting the diverse needs of all students.
  • Enthusiasm for making learning effective and enjoyable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for inclusive education
  • Experience in SEMH/SEN settings is desirable but not essential, relevant experience will be desired.
