Role: Chemistry Technician 

Location: Kettering
Salary: £23,901 to £24,500(plus 10% shift allowance)
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week - 10am - 6pm Monday to Friday 

Our client has a full-time vacancy for a Technician to work within their Chemistry department. Hours for the position are Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm.

A 10% shift allowance will be paid, in addition to the salary – Monday to Thursday from 4.30pm to 6pm and Friday from 4pm to 6pm.

About The Department

The chemical testing team consists of around 20 multiskilled technicians, technologists, and other support staff. The chemical laboratory houses a range of analytical equipment including IC, GC-FID, HPLC, UV-Vis, GC-MS, and LC-MS. Testing for restricted substances and assessing the chemical properties of a range of consumer products against international and European standards is carried out to show due diligence or to apply for CE or UKCA certification.

About The Role

  • The successful applicant will be expected to carry out the following:
  • Perform chemical testing competently and efficiently
  • Record results and observations in a legible and understandable manner
  • Routine analytical equipment maintenance tasks
  • Routine chemical testing to standard procedures within an accredited laboratory environment
  • Complete and maintain personal training records
  • Working to and understanding the companies quality systems and UKAS requirements
  • Working to and understanding the companies health and safety requirements


Full training will be provided, although previous laboratory experience is desirable.

About You


Essential

  • Previous laboratory experience or high-level GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths and at least one science subject
  • You should be familiar with MS Word and Excel
  • Have good attention to detail and thoroughness
  • You should be highly motivated, reliable & flexible
  • Be able to follow instructions accurately
  • You should have good teamworking skills and be experienced at meeting deadlines
  • Possess enthusiasm and a helpful attitude
  • Problem solving experience 
  • Willing to learn, develop, adapt and grow
  • You will need good time management, organisation and communication skills
  • A-levels in Maths or science or Further Education in science subjects would be highly desirable
