Graduate Polymer Chemist

Join our client, an employee-owned leader in the polymer industry, as a Graduate Polymer Chemist. This role is perfect for someone passionate about polymer formulations and eager to contribute to the development of innovative products. As part of our Technical Department, you will play a key role in shaping our products and processes, ensuring they meet customer and market demands while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop new formulations for polymer (PVC) coverings and refine processes in response to customer, market, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and product development teams to create new product constructions or types.
  • Investigate methods to improve existing polymer formulations and compounds to align with changing market and environmental trends.
  • Evaluate new and alternative raw materials for product benefits such as cost savings, environmental enhancements, or safety improvements.
  • Participate in PVC and other polymers' mixing procedures and handle ink formulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry/Material Science (or a related field).
  • Some experience or strong knowledge in polymers, plastisol, plastics, printing, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of fire retardant materials in polymers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain flexible and calm in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Local candidates with the ability to drive are preferred due to the location and nature of the role.
