Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

Tonbridge

Full-time | Permanent | 40 hours per week

Salary: £32,432 + £1,200 shift allowance

Shifts: Monday to Friday, alternating weekly between 6:00 am-2:00 pm and 2:00 pm-10:00 pm

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a manufacturing team in Tonbridge. This is a hands-on role working across a wide range of equipment, ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely, and reliably.

The Role

  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks on critical plant items
  • Respond to breakdowns and undertake repairs to minimise downtime
  • Support continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reliability
  • Work on new equipment installations, refurbishments, and modifications
  • Perform general engineering workshop duties including welding (MIG/MMA), fabrication, machining, and sheet metal work
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety standards and procedures

About You

  • Recognised engineering qualifications in a mechanical discipline
  • Broad general engineering workshop skills
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, fans, and mechanical drives
  • Ability to fault-find and carry out effective repairs
  • Own transport due to limited public transport links
