About the role:
As a Control Panel CAD Designer, you’ll be at the heart of designing and developing control panels for cutting-edge building automation systems, using SEE Electrical software to craft detailed and accurate 2D wiring diagrams. With a solid foundation in electrical standards and control systems, you’ll liaise closely with procurement, production, and project teams to bring intelligent design solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing 2D control panel wiring diagrams using SEE Electrical
- Interpreting points lists, electrical standards, and system requirements
- Collaborating with project stakeholders in initial meetings to define scope and specifications
- Managing RFIs and technical submittals while attending design meetings
- Liaising with procurement and production teams to ensure seamless project delivery
- Gaining familiarity with a range of manufacturers and their system components
- Maintaining detailed, accurate, and up-to-date design records for O&M Manuals
- Providing regular updates to project managers on design progress
- Revising designs based on feedback and evolving project requirements
- Conducting research into materials and technologies to enhance design outcomes
- Actively participating in team-based working, knowledge-sharing, and continuous improvement
Skills Required:
- Experience in control panel design, ideally within the BMS or building automation sector
- Proficiency in SEE Electrical or similar CAD design software
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, standards, and components
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into accurate designs
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously
- Curious and eager to explore new technologies and best practices
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and contributing to meetings
- Detail-oriented with a passion for getting designs right the first time
