Junior/NQ Solicitor or Paralegal - Landlord and Tenant Litigation

Join our Landlord and Tenant Litigation Department at a leading legal firm, where we handle a range of matters from standard and accelerated possession cases to complex defended proceedings. This role is ideal for a newly qualified solicitor or an experienced paralegal eager to deepen their expertise in landlord and tenant law.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the department’s caseload, including contentious and defended matters.
  • Undertake fee-earning work under supervision and contribute to the department's efforts.
  • Gain technical experience to handle defended and complex cases, particularly those allocated to the fast track and/or multitrack.
  • Draft legal documents and comply with court directions and orders.
  • Work towards independently managing smaller matters and providing effective support on larger matters.
  • Correspond with clients and other parties (defendants, courts, other solicitors, managing agents) as directed.
  • Liaise with clients regarding the current status of cases.
  • Issue possession claims using the online system and complete various court applications.
  • Produce instructions to advocates and counsel, and notices seeking possession.
  • Update case management information spreadsheets.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good knowledge of landlord and tenant law, with in-house training available for candidates without specific L&T knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation procedures.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Organised and able to work independently.
  • Confident in a small team environment and in dealing with clients and third parties over the phone.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Creative and adaptable, ready to contribute to a new enterprise.
