Futures are looking to appoint a Controls Engineer to join a successful and well established engineering team. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and commissioning of hydraulic control systems for large-scale heavy industry applications such as hydraulic presses. The position requires a mix of technical design expertise, on-site installation, and customer-facing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support hydraulic systems for industrial applications.
  • Prepare project quotations and provide technical support during the sales process.
  • Oversee system installation, commissioning, and handover to clients.
  • Collaborate with electrical panel designers to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Design and program Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) tailored for heavy industrial use.
  • Conduct safety evaluations, incorporating performance levels and SIL ratings into system design.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites for installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Attend customer meetings and provide technical expertise as required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in hydraulic systems design and control.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (Performance Level, SIL rating).
  • Background in electrical design and ability to collaborate with panel designers.
  • Proficiency in HMI design and configuration for industrial environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in both workshop and field environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and team collaboration.
