Accounts Assistant/Bookkeeper

A small, independently owned accountancy practice in Walsall is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Accounting Assistant or Bookkeeper to join their growing team. Known for providing a friendly and personal service, the practice prides itself on its strong client relationships and supportive team environment.

Role overview:
This role is ideal for a motivated individual with strong organisational and communication skills, who enjoys a varied role supporting accountants and directly assisting clients. You will play a key role in day-to-day administration, managing client contact, and assisting with bookkeeping tasks.

Key duties:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the accounting team
  • Handle client communications via phone, email, and in person
  • Book appointments and manage diaries
  • Assist with bookkeeping duties and ad hoc financial tasks
  • Support the team with document preparation and record keeping
  • Respond to client queries and maintain a high level of customer service


Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role within a practice or finance environment
  • Strong customer service skills and a client-focused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Competency in Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software is a plus


The ideal candidate:

  • AAT Level 2 or above
  • Prior experience in a small accountancy practice
