Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Duty and Assessment Team

Rate of Pay: £30.57 per hour

As a senior social worker in this team, you will manage a varied caseload of complex cases and be a key source of expertise for your colleagues. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Managing a complex caseload of new referrals, statutory assessments, and Section 47 Child Protection Enquiries.

• Providing expert consultation and support to other social workers and newly qualified staff, offering guidance on complex cases and decision-making.

• Conducting robust risk assessments and making critical, child-focused decisions under pressure, often within tight timescales.

• Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including the police, health, and education, to gather information and ensure a coordinated response to safeguarding concerns.

• Preparing high-quality, analytical reports for Child Protection Conferences and, where necessary, for court proceedings.

• Contributing to the team's duty rota, responding to new cases as they come in and managing competing demands effectively.

• Acting as a role model for best practice, ensuring a consistently high standard of social work is delivered.

The council is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with:

• A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW) with current registration with Social Work England.

• The ability to manage a demanding and fast-paced caseload efficiently.
