About the Role

Opus People Solutions, on behalf of Walsall Council, is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Children's Safeguarding Team. This is a vital role focused on protecting children and young people from harm and promoting their welfare in line with statutory frameworks.

You'll be responsible for managing referrals, conducting initial assessments, and making informed decisions about safeguarding interventions. The role also involves working closely with families to help them understand and reduce risks, often within the Family Safeguarding model, which integrates adult and children's services.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and Section 47 investigations
  • Support families to make positive changes and reduce safeguarding concerns
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners via the MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, including assessments, decisions, and follow-ups
  • Receive and assess referrals for children at risk






Requirements

  • Qualified and registered Social Worker
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and procedures
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for children and families
