Automation Engineer (EICA) – Warrington (UK Wide) - £55,000 DOE

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Automation Engineer (EICA) to join a growing service function supporting multiple industries and technologies across the UK. This permanent role offers up to £55,000 per year plus overtime, rota payments, £250 on-call allowance, and company vehicle allowance, providing a varied workload including maintenance, minor modifications, small projects, and 24/7 client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use and diagnose multiple PLC/PC software applications to troubleshoot automation systems.

  • Connect remotely to client PLC/SCADA/HMI platforms and diagnose issues on unfamiliar applications.

  • Complete PC health checks, backup/restore applications, and replace hardware as required.

  • Survey automation systems, provide obsolescence/adoption reports, and recommend upgrade paths.

  • Make minor modifications to PLC code and systems, including PLC cards and sequence adjustments.

  • Support sales teams with technical solutions, hardware/software specification, and project estimates.

  • Observe production sequences to suggest improvements, identify root causes, and improve productivity.

  • Comply with all health & safety regulations and produce effective RAMS.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree, HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or equivalent engineering apprenticeship.

  • Experience in commissioning or maintenance roles, able to fault-find across multiple PLC brands (Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Schneider, Mitsubishi).

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems.

  • Self-starter, team player, flexible, and able to work independently.

  • Ability to connect to OS networks and diagnose network health.

  • Must be able to attain SC clearance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
