About the School:

Are you a patient, nurturing, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs in a mainstream secondary school setting?

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Warrington that has a dedicated SEN department. The school is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide targeted 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs, helping them access the mainstream curriculum while receiving tailored support.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a mainstream environment that values inclusion, consistency, and pupil wellbeing. Classroom experience is beneficial but not essential; however, knowledge and awareness of SEN is required.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN within a mainstream classroom
    * Support pupils to engage with lessons and access learning alongside their peers
    * Implement positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
    * Work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff
    * Support pupils during break times and transitions, promoting inclusion and safety
    * Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
    * Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN support worker is advantageous
    * Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is desirable
    * A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
    * Ability to build positive relationships with young people
    * Willingness to work collaboratively within a mainstream school setting

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
    * Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
    * Provide two professional, child-related references covering the last two years
