My client are seeking an experienced Key Account Manager to manage a portfolio of accounts, maintaining a high volume of turnover with an acceptable profit margin. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in distribution sales and a proven track record of growing accounts and developing new business.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan and prioritise personal sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims, including costs and sales.
  • Manage product/service mix, pricing, and margins according to agreed aims and using supplier, market, and product knowledge to recommend strategic sources of items.
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate and ethical sales methods, and relevant internal liaison, to optimise quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Use customer and prospect activity tools and systems, and update relevant information held in these systems.
  • Respond to and follow up on sales enquiries, monitor and report on market and competitor activities.
  • Record, analyse, report, and administer according to system requirements.
  • Communicate, liaise, and negotiate internally and externally using appropriate methods to develop a profitable business and sustainable relationships.
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development.
  • Attend Air Shows, exhibitions, seminars, and regular strategy meetings to share experiences and promote new ideas to project the company forward.
  • Utilise expertise and experience to ensure quality requirements are met in accordance with QA procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Account/Key account management experience (essential).
  • Ideally 5+ years in a distribution sales environment.
  • Experience of working within a team and with both internal and external customers to achieve goals.
  • Proven track record in growing accounts and developing new business from them.
  • Ideally, some formal training in sales and sales-related functions.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and an ERP stock management system.
