We're working with a progressive secondary school in Welwyn Garden City seeking a passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

The Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant

  • Support students aged 11-16 with a range of SEMH needs, helping them thrive emotionally and academically
  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external specialists to provide holistic support
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions that build resilience, emotional regulation, and self-confidence
  • Act as a consistent and positive role model, helping students re-engage with education in a safe, supportive setting

What We're Looking For

  • A recent graduate in psychology or criminology (2:1 or higher preferred)
  • Genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people and understanding complex behavioural needs
  • Empathetic, patient, and confident in building strong, trusting relationships
  • Commutable to Welwyn Garden City on a daily basis
  • Previous experience working with young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential
