Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Billericay, is seeking a

Payroll Administrator to join their friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll experience to manage their own client portfolio and develop further within a supportive, professional environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for running a portfolio of monthly, fortnightly, and weekly payrolls, alongside processing CIS returns. The position is client-facing, and you’ll have daily interaction with your own client base, HMRC, and pension providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing payrolls from start to finish
  • Managing starters and leavers, issuing P45s
  • Calculating salaries, ensuring NMW/statutory compliance
  • Submitting/uploading pension data and liaising with providers
  • Handling client queries with accuracy and care
  • Submitting CIS returns and claims, ensuring all supporting information is collated
  • Liaising with HMRC and the Pensions Regulator on behalf of clients
The Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 1 year’s payroll processing experience
  • Sage 50 Payroll experience desirable (not essential)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and communication skills
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
