Category Buyer

Our client a forward thinking, international manufacturing company is looking to recruit a driven, ambitious and experienced Senior Category Buyer responsible for the management and development of high volume and fast-moving product streams.

Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement you will be responsible for:

To increase the volume and value of products sold within the specified categories.

Develop and manage the specific range within the portfolio of product categories.

Maintain excellent supplier relationships with both new and existing suppliers.

Set up and implement supplier agreement with all key suppliers whilst ensuring highest product quality and sales margins are achieved.

Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and create opportunities for new products or new customers to maximise growth and profit opportunities.

Understand key supply market drivers, market conditions and trends for their category areas.

Ability to access supplier data and information.

Understand the analysis process and how to apply it to new situations.

Evaluate internal and external data, complete spend analysis and provide insight.

Forecast potential changes to the future requirements for their category areas.

Ensure the strategy delivers 'best value based on a combination of quality of product, service and cost, and that the strategic sourcing process is applied consistently and appropriately.

Achieve Procurement savings and/or increase company revenue.

Pro-actively review and monitor key suppliers in your portfolio, review compliance data, identify any supply risks and mitigate through robust supplier development.

Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure products and suppliers meet the correct quality standard.

As a successful candidate, ideally you will have prior experience within supply chain/purchasing and manufacturing, be passionate self-starter who is able to move with speed to implement ideas and deliver results. You will also be an exceptional negotiator with the ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships together with excellent organization, time management skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages, CRM and Sage 200c would be an advantage and working towards/qualified CIPS certification, would be highly desirable.
