A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join a reputable commercial vehicle company on their night shift team in Willenhall. You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicles and trailers to MOT standard, playing a key role in keeping the fleet safe, compliant, and roadworthy.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Mechanic

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of HGVs and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Attend breakdowns on the roadside or at customer premises as required
  • Work closely with the parts department to ensure correct parts are ordered and fitted
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and workshop practices
  • Accurately complete job cards, service sheets, and time records
  • Keep the workshop clean, tidy, and professional at all times
  • Attend training courses to stay up to date with product knowledge and technical skills

Skills and Experience for an HGV Mechanic

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Fitter or HGV Mechanic
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills
  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Current UK driving licence (HGV licence and ADR certification desirable)
  • Solid understanding of health and safety requirements in a workshop environment
