Our client develop new processes and innovative technologies that diversifies their wood-based product range. Producing specialty chemicals, functional biomaterials and food ingredients from woody biomass, their products are truly sustainable. Due to a pending retirement our client is now looking to recruit a Technology Centre Manager / R&D Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a research and application development team and facility, ensuring a steady output of value driven short, medium and long term projects which address the needs of the business in terms of new products, processes, and process optimisations in a sustainable manner.
  • Promote innovation and provide product and technology application support
  • Regularly review technical progress and advise course corrections
  • Professional development and mentoring of team members.
  • Manage quality and output of work produced from the Technology Centre
  • Production of relevant reports
  • Manage expenditure within parameters
  • Preparation of forecasts and budgets and resource plans
  • Review risk registers and ensure compliance with, company policies and procedures
  • Manage all administration aspects of the R&D facility
  • Be responsible for supplying data for process design of scale-up activities and support pilot plant activities at remote locations.
  • Provide technical support in discussions with external technology providers and our commercial teams.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Chemistry, Masters or PhD would be an advantage
  • Previous experience in an industrial research laboratory within Biomass processing and/or Renewable Energy
  • Preferably 10 years minimum working experience
  • Passionate about innovation.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are self-motivated and well-organised with strong administration skills.
  • You work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • You are adaptable and versatile, happy to work in new areas or projects at short notice.
