Learning Support Practitioner - Dyslexia & Autism Specialism

We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking, all-through school in Winchester, who are seeking a Learning Support Practitioner to join their experienced SEND team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education to support students with both Dyslexia and Autism across different age groups.

This role is ideal for candidates who are committed to building strong relationships with young people, who understand the value of inclusive support, and who want to grow professionally within a nurturing and ambitious school environment. The school is well-established within the local community and takes pride in creating a positive, respectful culture for both students and staff.

Role Overview:

  • Provide in-class support to students, ensuring they have equitable access to learning.

  • Deliver targeted interventions for students with Dyslexia in both 1:1 and small group settings.

  • Build relationships as a keyworker for students with more complex or long-term needs, particularly those with Autism.

  • Support the emotional, social, and academic progress of students with additional needs.

  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and the wider pastoral team to ensure consistency in support.

  • Share and develop effective strategies for SEND support across the team.

  • Take part in CPD opportunities to continually develop your skills and knowledge in special education.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths).

  • A positive, resilient and adaptable attitude.

  • Good communication skills and an ability to tailor support to different students’ needs.

  • A team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others.

  • Experience with SEND is welcome, but not essential - training will be provided.

  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people in an inclusive environment.
