Our client based in County Durham  are looking for an experienced HGV1 driver to deliver goods  to North London 3 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There is also delivery to make to Slough on Tuesday morning.
Typically, the vehicle leaves at 2pm on Monday and Wednesday (as that’s when it’s loaded), but it can leave any time on Friday. It will invariably involve overnight stays in the vehicle, as it is extremely unlikely that the round trip can be made in one day.
The vehicle in question is a brand-new Mercedes Actros (and is very well appointed) but the delivery site requires a bit of experience to get into, so must be experienced in HGV1 work who, ideally, is familiar with the vehicle in question. Our client would look to double man the first trip so that the driver is familiar with requirements thereafter.
Our client is looking for part-time cover until the currant driver is back at work, and we anticipate this will take 7 weeks minimum.
The trollies are already loaded and will be unloaded using an underslung tail lift, so there is a fair degree of manual handling involved so its physically demanding, but there is only one drop. The drop in Slough  is unloaded by forklift.
Our client does not work Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day, but our other working days over the festive period will largely depend on the customer, who has not been able to tell us his requirements yet.
