Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Woking, Surrey
Salary: 45,000 to 55,000 + car & package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a growing portfolio of projects within the water sector across Surrey and Berkshire. The Quantity Surveyor will be taking responsibility for their own projects whilst working closely with a small commercial team. The role promises exposure to a variety of projects including increasing capacity of sewage treatment works and storm tanks, the refurbishment of pumping stations and construction of new water storage sites including water reservoirs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all commercial aspects of assigned projects from inception through to final account.
  • Preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and administration.
  • Accurate measurement, pricing, and agreement of variations.
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Regular cost reporting and monitoring of project financial performance.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Final account preparation and negotiation with both clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with contract conditions (familiarity with NEC contracts is advantageous).
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with the client and supply chain.


About You

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a UK based main contractor or specialist subcontractor
  • Experience in civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure projects. Specific experience in the water sector (clean or wastewater) would be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and standard forms of contract (NEC preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Commercially astute with a keen eye for detail.
  • Crucially, you must be based within a reasonable commutable distance of Hampton, Basingstoke, and Guildford to effectively support projects across our operating region.
