We’re now seeking a technically-strong and commercially focused Financial Controller to join our leadership team. This is a high-impact role where finance plays a central role in shaping strategic direction and delivering operational excellence.

The Opportunity

As Financial Controller, you will oversee the full financial operation of the business, leading a high-performing team, driving improvements in processes and controls, and partnering with project and commercial teams to ensure clarity, compliance, and strategic support. This is a critical leadership role ideal for someone with a background in consultancy, project-based finance, or engineering-led delivery models.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to deliver accurate and timely information and provide high quality support to colleagues as needed across the business from payroll to analysis and business partnering.
  • Create a positive team environment where everyone is encouraged to have a voice and contribute ideas, support each other, and feel empowered to own their specific area of responsibility.

Financial Leadership

  • Oversee monthly management accounts, six-monthly statutory packs, and financial reporting for Halma and internal stakeholders
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and strategy documents

Operational Finance & Controls

  • Ensure financial systems and internal controls are robust, compliant, and support current and future business activities
  • Manage supplier payments, credit control, customer vetting, and statutory returns
  • Liaise with auditors and manage year-end finance matters

Commercial & Strategic Insight

  • Deliver meaningful commercial insights to guide strategic and operational decision-making
  • Monitor project-based revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and accuracy across multi-phase contracts
  • Lead reviews of forecasts and investment/capex proposals to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Champion a data-driven culture and continuous improvement across finance processes

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience
  • Background in project-led, consultancy, or manufacturing environments with understanding of long-term contract accounting and revenue recognition
  • Demonstrated experience leading finance teams and managing change
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to partner across technical and operational functions
  • Adaptable and proactive, capable of thriving in a fast-changing, purpose-driven business
