About the School:

We’re working with a secondary school in Watford that has a strong academic record. The school supports student progress and encourages independent thinking. Staff are committed to helping students grow both in and out of the classroom.

The Maths Department aims to deliver lessons that are clear and purposeful. They are looking for a Maths Teacher to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis—someone who can support learning and contribute to the department’s continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality mathematics lessons that meet the needs of all students, from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4.
  • Differentiate lessons to ensure all students can access the curriculum and make progress at their own pace.
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and promotes a growth mindset.
  • Set and mark homework in line with school policies, providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining discipline while fostering a supportive atmosphere for learning.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and resources within the department.
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams, providing targeted support and revision strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the department and staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and senior leadership.
  • Attend staff meetings, departmental meetings, and school events as required.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, participating in extracurricular activities and school initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching mathematics.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Experience using technology in the classroom to enhance learning (interactive whiteboards, educational software).
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to continuously improve teaching practices.
  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
