We are seeking a Head of Commercial Property to lead and supervise a team within a dynamic legal environment. This role involves managing operational, financial, and client service performance standards, as well as spearheading business development and case intake to contribute to the overall success of the department and firm.
Day-to-day of the role:Strategy and Leadership
- Manage and supervise your team to ensure efficient case handling and satisfaction of client demands.
- Monitor and manage budgets, targets, and overall financial performance of your team.
- Identify and implement growth opportunities to increase your team’s fee-earning capacity.
- Provide inspirational leadership, including recruitment and support of team members.
- Collaborate with other regional Heads of Departments to ensure consistency in service delivery across the firm.
People Management
- Conduct regular supervision and one-to-ones with Fee Earners to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Participate in the recruitment process and interviewing of potential candidates.
- Carry out appraisals, set objectives, and ensure your team meets their performance targets.
- Coach, develop, and support Fee Earners to foster excellent leadership practices.
- Work closely with the HR team to optimize staff recruitment and retention.
Technical
- Advise on high-profile cases and complex matters as necessary.
- Ensure your team is up-to-date with changes in law and procedures through timely training and mentoring.
- Oversee the progression of cases to ensure client satisfaction and compliance.
Case Handling
- Ensure monthly file reviews are conducted in line with policy.
- Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members as appropriate.
- Monitor and ensure accurate time recording by your team.
- Maintain client files in good order to meet Lexcel and other quality assurance standards.
- Manage and reduce bad/outstanding debts.
- Promote and capture client feedback to enhance service quality.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the legal sector, specifically in commercial property.
- Strong ability to manage and lead a team, with a track record of enhancing team performance.
- Excellent client service skills and the ability to handle complex legal cases.
- Knowledge of financial management and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
- Familiarity with Lexcel standards and quality assurance in legal practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
