Tool Maker

Location: Worcester

Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 DOE PM Shift Allowance Attendance Bonus

Shifts: Rotating Double Days (AM: 6am–2pm / PM: 2pm–10pm)

Orion are proud to partner with a leading heavy industrial manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Tool Maker to join their engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that covers sheet metal works, welding, fabrication, and precision tool making, supporting both production and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precision machining using manual lathe, milling, turning, and grinding machines
  • Perform bench fitting, fault finding, and tool assembly in confined spaces
  • Maintain and improve die & trim tool condition for production efficiency
  • Manufacture and repair fixtures and jigs
  • Support fabrication teams and sheet metal operations
  • Carry out welding and minor fabrication tasks as part of tool repairs
  • Drive continuous improvement in tooling performance
  • Liaise with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues

Required Experience:

  • Ideally background in manual machining: turning, milling, grinding
  • Hands-on experience with welding and sheet metal fabrication
  • Skilled in stripping and assembling dies, trim tools, and press tools
  • Prior work in a tool room or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
  • Operations of overhead cranes (training can be provided)

Qualifications:

  • Ideally Toolmaking or a related mechanical discipline
  • Strong understanding of toolroom equipment and workshop safety standards

Package:

  • Competitive salary: £33,000 - £38,000 depending on experience
  • PM Shift allowance: 16% uplift (£2,640 per annum)
