Assistant Team Manager - Looked After Children's Team | Wrexham County Borough Council

Are you an experienced and motivated Social Worker ready to take the next step into a leadership role? Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager to join their dedicated Looked After Children's Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to directly support social workers, influence practice, and ensure high-quality outcomes for children in care.

Pay Rate: £31.47 per hour (PAYE)

About the Role:

As an Assistant Team Manager in the Looked After Children's Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Team Manager and directly guiding social work practice. This is a non-case holding post focused on leadership, supervision, and quality assurance. Your responsibilities will typically include:

  • Directly supporting and mentoring social workers in their day-to-day practice with Looked After Children.
  • Providing regular and reflective supervision to staff, fostering a positive team culture.
  • Overseeing and guiding social work interventions, ensuring they are child-focused and align with statutory requirements and departmental policy.
  • Contributing to effective performance monitoring within the team.
  • Supporting the Team Manager in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services for children in care.
  • Assisting in the management of team resources and contributing to service development.
What We're Looking For:
  • A Social Work Degree or equivalent relevant degree.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience (ideally 3+ years) working with children, Looked After Children's expeince would be preferred in the UK, with some experience in a supervisory or senior practitioner capacity.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • An up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
