About the Role:

As a Social Worker in the Looked After Children's Team, you will hold a caseload of children who are in the care of the local authority. Your primary focus will be to promote placement stability, achieve permanence, and maximize the life chances of these children. Your responsibilities will typically include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments of children's needs, their families, and carers, and formulating robust care plans in line with statutory responsibilities.
  • Regularly visiting looked after children in their placements to monitor their welfare, progress, and ensure their needs are being met.
  • Working towards permanence for children, including reunification with families, long-term fostering, or adoption.
  • Preparing reports for, and attending, Child in Care Reviews, fostering panels, and court hearings as appropriate, providing evidence when necessary.
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and fostering services, to ensure holistic support.
  • Promoting children's educational, health, and leisure opportunities.
  • Adhering to child protection procedures and processes in relation to looked after children.
What We're Looking For:
  • A Social Work Degree or equivalent relevant degree.
  • At least 2 years of post-qualifying experience working directly with children in care/looked after children in the UK (strongly preferred).
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • An up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
