JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: IoT Business Development Manager

Reporting To: Head of IoT Sales

Location: UK (Remote/Flexible) — Regular travel across the UK and occasional visits to the head office in York are required.

Salary: £38,500-£45,000

Car Allowance: £3,500

Holidays: 23 days plus Bank Holidays and increases with service

Pension: 4% and increases with service

Group Life Insurance (2x annual salary)

Company paid wellbeing schemes such as Denplan and Simplyhealth

As part of their ongoing expansion, they are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated IoT Business Development Manager to drive growth across the UK market.

Role Summary

The IoT Business Development Manager will be instrumental in growing the company’s presence within the IoT space. This role focuses primarily on securing new business opportunities, while also identifying cross-sell and upsell potential within newly acquired accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in technology sales and a strategic mindset for market development and relationship building.

Key Objectives

•             Drive new business acquisition focused on IoT connectivity solutions.

•             Establish and nurture key customer relationships to build trust and long-term value.

•             Deliver revenue growth by promoting the full suite of IoT services to new and existing clients.

•             Champion the benefits of IoT and represent the company in a consultative, solutions-driven manner.

Core Responsibilities

Business Development

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the IoT sector to meet or exceed sales targets.

• Research and penetrate new markets, industries, and customer segments.

• Initiate outreach strategies such as prospecting calls, tailored emails, events, and face-to-face meetings.

• Prepare and present compelling proposals to win new accounts.

• Negotiate commercial terms to secure mutually beneficial deals.

Account Growth & Relationship Management

• Foster long-term relationships with newly onboarded clients to uncover further opportunities.

• Understand customer challenges and position IoT offerings that deliver clear value.

• Stay informed on competitor activity and market trends, sharing insights with internal teams.

• Promote the full capabilities of the company’s IoT portfolio during customer engagements.

Sales Process

• Produce tailored quotes, proposals, and presentations in line with brand and quality standards.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records to manage pipelines and forecast performance.

• Provide feedback to the marketing team to refine messaging and campaign strategies.

• Balance sales activity with admin tasks to maintain efficiency and focus.

Customer Engagement & Collaboration

• Support prospects and customers by responding to queries and providing solution-based recommendations.

• Coordinate with technical and implementation teams to ensure successful onboarding and support.

• Share leads internally where appropriate to align with broader company goals and solutions.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Operate in accordance with internal procedures and industry regulations, including ISO 9001:2015 standards.

• Ensure ethical sales practices and consistent adherence to data protection and compliance requirements
