Elevation Recruitment are working with an established and respected engineering and manufacturing business based in North Yorkshire to help them recruit a Project Manager to lead and deliver NPI projects in the advanced composites sector. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and testing of complex composite structures, supplying critical components for applications ain Industrial, Aerospace, Civil and Defence sectors.

Operating at the forefront of composite innovation, the organisation delivers both bespoke and low-volume manufactured solutions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to technically challenging and meaningful projects that push the boundaries of what's possible in advanced manufacturing.

About the Role

As Project Manager, you will play a key role in driving the successful delivery of high-value engineering projects from bid through to production. You will be responsible for planning, executing and closing projects—ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost and quality requirements while maintaining customer satisfaction and safeguarding the business's commercial interests.

You will work across cross-functional teams, lead critical customer engagements, and coordinate internal resources to deliver solutions that meet exacting standards. The role may involve managing entire projects or specific work packages within larger programmes, depending on scale and complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate project roles and responsibilities using tools such as RACI matrices.

  • Plan and manage bids and projects in accordance with internal life cycle management frameworks.

  • Take full accountability for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and transition into production.

  • Lead project kick-off, stand-ups, reviews and formal gate assessments.

  • Apply lean, practical, shop-floor focused approaches (e.g., Gemba) to ensure programme delivery.

  • Track progress, manage risks and issues, and maintain accurate project documentation.

  • Ensure all deliverables—technical, commercial and operational—are clearly defined and understood.

  • Build, lead and motivate cross-disciplinary teams, fostering a results-driven and collaborative culture.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to agree on budgets and performance expectations.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.

  • Professional project management qualification (APM PMQ, PMI PMP, or in progress).

  • Competent user of Microsoft Project or similar planning tools.

  • Proven ability to manage technical projects to time and budget.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience managing customer interfaces.

  • Confident, resilient, and adaptable under pressure, with a focus on delivery and quality.
