Freelance Quantity Surveyor (AQS / QS / SQS)
Location: Central York – 3 days per week on site

Day Rate: Inside IR35

  • AQS: £250 – £350 per day

  • QS: £400 – £500 per day

  • SQS: £525 – £600 per day

The Project

This role is based on a city centre railway station upgrade in York – a complex, high-profile scheme with more phases expected to follow.

Due to a recent restructure, a gap has appeared in the commercial team. They’re looking for someone to step in on a freelance basis to provide support. The preference is for a Quantity Surveyor, but they’re open to strong AQS or SQS candidates as well.

The Role

You’ll work closely with the existing commercial team, helping to keep the project moving smoothly on the cost and contract side.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Managing and supporting subcontract accounts

  • Handling change management both upstream and downstream

  • Day-to-day contract administration (NEC / Network Rail)

  • Supporting with CVR reporting and data collation

  • General commercial support across civils and rail works

What You’ll Need
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and Network Rail contracts

  • Experience working on civils or rail projects

  • Flexible and proactive approach, confident working as part of a Tier 1 team
