You only want your employer to find out once you’ve secured your new role, right?
Hey, Julie here👋 Job hunting whilst you’re still in a full-time job? It’s a tricky one. You only want your employer to find out once you’ve secured your new role, right?
Here are a few tips to help you land your next role without your current employer finding out!
👉Don’t use office time
The worst thing you can do is carry out your job search during office hours. That’s just asking for trouble. Instead, use your evenings to apply for new jobs to ensure none of your colleagues find out.
👉Preferred contact time
On your CV, let employers know which times are best to contact you and how. Can you take calls? Or would email work best? Can you answer during your lunch? Either way, make this clear on your CV to avoid any mishaps.
👉Keep it to yourself
It might be tempting to tell your work mates that you’re looking to leave, but keep it to yourself. Rumours tend to spread like wildfire in offices.
👉Don’t share it on social media
I know you’re excited about moving jobs, but avoid posting about your hunt or complaining about your job on social media. You never know who is watching or where your post will end up.
👉Stay professional
Although you’ve mentally clocked out of your job, do your best not to let it show. If you come across as demotivated, this can draw attention to yourself and raise your manager’s concerns. Continue to maintain your professionalism and work ethic.
