Job Description:
Summary
Iowa State University Economic Development & Industry Relations (EDIR) is currently accepting applications for an Executive Administrative Assistant. This position provides high‑level administrative, project, and analytical support to EDIR leadership. Responsibilities include managing workflows, producing consolidated reports, and developing presentations for internal and external stakeholders. The role serves as a liaison between EDIR leadership, ISU partners, and various community collaborators.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, creative problem-solving skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to interact with a variety of individuals to foster a positive and supportive work environment.
Example of Duties
Manage executive workflows, complex calendars, and stakeholder scheduling.
Prepare/coordinate development of meeting materials, research summaries, and briefings.
Coordinate travel, itineraries, and logistics.
Draft correspondence and leadership communications.
Liaise with ISU officials and industry partners.
Support events, tours.
Maintain confidentiality around industry information and business development.
Manage confidential documents and executive files.
Support leadership meetings with agendas, minutes, and follow‑up tracking.
Track budgets, event costs, vendor invoices, basic bookkeeping, and other financial activities.
Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
