Job OverviewÂ
We are seeking a Technical Writer responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that communicates complex technical concepts related to our autonomous surface vessels. This requires strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members to produce high-quality documentation throughout the product development process.Â
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirementsÂ
Create and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, system manuals, specifications, and other technical guides for our autonomous surface vesselsÂ
Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation that is easy for end-users to understandÂ
Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices, as well as any relevant DoD regulations and guidelinesÂ
Review and edit documentation for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, ensuring that it meets the needs of our target audienceÂ
Work closely with the product development team to stay updated on project timelines, milestones, and deliverablesÂ
Continuously update and improve existing documentation based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teamsÂ
Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing and documentationÂ
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related fieldÂ
Experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-driven environment or within the defense industryÂ
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectivelyÂ
Proficient with version control systems and front-end developmentÂ
Familiarity with docs as code, markdown content formatting, Javascript, CSS, and Nunjucks templating a plusÂ
Familiarity with DoD standards and regulations related to technical documentation is a plusÂ
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlinesÂ
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workÂ
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsÂ
A proactive and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to work independently and take initiative when neededÂ
