Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Workers' Compensation Coordinator to join our orthopedic practice. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, employers, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers to ensure efficient management of workers' compensation cases from initial visit through claim resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of workers' compensation cases, including intake, documentation, and follow-up
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for treatment
- Communicate with employers, case managers, adjusters, and attorneys regarding patient status and care plans
- Schedule appointments and ensure timely completion of required forms and reports
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and claim records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Assist providers with disability ratings, work status reports, and return-to-work documentation
- Monitor case progress and address any delays or issues proactively
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and practice policies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in workers' compensation, medical office administration, or orthopedic practice setting
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation processes and medical terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in orthopedic or specialty medical practice
- Familiarity with billing and coding related to workers' compensation claims
- Knowledge of state-specific workers' compensation regulations
