The Nurse Practitioner (NP) includes a range of responsibilities and duties that are essential for providing comprehensive care to patients across various stages of life. NPs are responsible for performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications under state-regulated authority. They also have the ability to perform some procedures under the supervision of a physician. These responsibilities may include:

  • Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and health screenings
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Identify and manage acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and infections
  • Prescribing and Procedures: Prescribe medications, perform minor procedures, and interpret lab and imaging results
  • Health Promotion: Educate patients on preventive care, healthy lifestyle choices, and disease management
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate and complete records of patient care and diagnoses.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program
  • Current NP license and certification in a specialty area
  • Experience working in a clinical setting
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Experience in performing minor medical procedures.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required.
