IT Support Specialist

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and basic computer programs
  • Experience providing technical support and troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Ability to work effectively in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of IT help desk practices with a strong emphasis on customer service
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests, equipment shipments, and inventory needs simultaneously
  • Microsoft 365 administration experience is a plus
  • Experience with VoIP phone systems is a plus
  • Previous experience with IT equipment inventory or asset management is preferred


Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance by phone, email, or help desk ticket
  • Perform remote troubleshooting using diagnostic techniques and relevant questions
  • Guide employees through the problem-solving process and provide clear technical instruction
  • Document technical issues, actions taken, and resolutions within the help desk ticketing system
  • Assist with onboarding new employees by creating Microsoft 365 accounts, assigning appropriate permissions, and providing basic hardware and software instruction
  • Prepare, configure, package, and ship computers, monitors, phones, and other equipment to new employees
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for laptops, monitors, accessories, phones, and other company-issued equipment
  • Track equipment assignments, serial numbers, shipment information, and employee acknowledgments
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate when additional equipment or supplies need to be ordered
  • Coordinate the return of company equipment from former employees, including providing shipping instructions and tracking outstanding returns
  • Inspect, document, and process returned equipment for reuse, repair, replacement, or disposal
  • Ensure equipment is properly reset, securely stored, and prepared for reassignment
  • Work with Human Resources and company leaders to resolve missing, damaged, or unreturned equipment
  • Maintain and update IT procedures, equipment records, FAQs, and knowledge-base documentation
  • Assist with company-wide technology projects and equipment deployments as needed
  • Travel occasionally depending on project assignments or office support needs
