Title: Warehouse (Backup Driver)Â

Customers served: External – All Summit customers; Internal – Any member of the Summit teamÂ
Role SummaryÂ
Summit’s warehouse associates play a pivotal role in fulfilling our customers’ needs for materials and services by receiving in new material from our vendors, picking customer’s orders for will call or delivery, participating in cycle counting and other inventory management practices, and provide backup for drivers as necessary. This role is Summit’s entry level branch position and an excellent role to be introduced to the business and learn skills, product knowledge, and industry best practices that prepare the associate for future opportunities at Summit. Â
Principle AccountabilitiesÂ
- Pull customer tickets to fulfill orders.Â
- Prepare orders for shipment to customers.Â
- Receive and stock products on a daily basis to replenish inventory.Â
- Understand products and their capabilities and warranties.Â
- Assist sales associates in fulfilling customer orders when necessary.Â
- Ensure warehouse and respective outside areas are neat and clean at all times.Â
- Maintaining safe practices and proactively upholds Summit’s commitment to a safe workplace.Â
- Provide backup for drivers as necessary and safely deliver products to customer locations.Â
- Maintain a clean vehicle, driver logs and vehicle inspection reportsÂ
- Ability to use iPad to review orders and collect signaturesÂ
- Load and unload Summit trucksÂ
Essential Qualifications and ExperienceÂ
- High school diploma or equivalentÂ
- Excellent driving recordÂ
- At least 21 years of ageÂ
- Valid Driver’s LicenseÂ
- Time management – strong ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesÂ
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and writtenÂ
- Flexibility – ability to effectively adapt to changeÂ
- Strong customer service orientation
Beneficial Skills and ExperienceÂ
- Previous warehouse or driver experienceÂ
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervisionÂ
- Aptitude for learningÂ
- iPad or tablet experienceÂ
Physical ChallengesÂ
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basisÂ
- Ability to operate standard warehouse equipmentÂ
- Ability to operate commercial vehiclesÂ
Pre-employment assessments, drug, and background screens are administered.Â
DOT medical exam is required for all drivers. Â
