Department Overview
The mission of Walker and Dunlopās Internal Audit (āIAā) department is to protect and enhance organizational value by providing our stakeholders with riskābased, independent, objective, and reliable assurance, advice, and insight designed to mitigate risk, add value, and improve W&Dās operations. IA acts as a valuable business partner to senior management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors by providing assurance, information, analyses, and advice to assist management in fulfilling its responsibilities for ensuring operations are managed ethically, effectively, and efficiently within an environment of strong internal controls.

The Impact You Will Have
As a member of Walker & Dunlopās Internal Audit team, you will support the execution of the Companyās Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program and broader internal audit initiatives. Working alongside internal stakeholders and external audit partners, you will assist in evaluating and testing the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to financial services operations, regulatory compliance, and the financial reporting requirements of an SEC registrant while building a strong foundation in audit and internal controls.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform operational effectiveness testing of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX).Ā
Assist in planning, scheduling, and documenting business walkthroughs.Ā Ā Ā
Support the execution of financial, operational, and compliance audits in accordance with the Internal Audit plan under the direction of a manager.
Partner with external auditors to support the completion of the annual financial statement audit, including Reg AB, HUD/GNMA, and USAP compliance audits.
Conduct follow-up reviews and remediation testing for financial, operational, or regulatory findings identified during audits.
Manage individual assignments within established budgets and timelines.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Communicate effectively and collaborate with teammates, business partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am ā 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays
Education and Experience
Bachelorās degree required, preferably in Accounting or FinanceĀ Ā
1+ year of relevant experience in accounting, finance, public accounting, or related internship experience.
Financial services and/or public accounting experience preferredāÆĀ
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Interest in developing expertise in multifamily lending and servicing, operational audits, regulatory compliance, SOX/internal controls, and financial reporting for an SEC registrant.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Interest in pursuing professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA).
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Proactive, adaptable team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

The hourly rate for this position is $31.25-$36.05 with an estimated yearly salary of $65,000-$75,000, plus a discretionary bonus
