The Staff Pad has partnered with Blue Ridge Medical Center in Blue Ridge, Georgia to find a skilled and compassionate Financial Counselor to join their Patient Access team. In this role, the Financial Counselor will play a key part in supporting patients through the financial aspects of their care. This includes meeting with self-pay patients, reviewing Charity Care and Sliding Fee applications, setting up payment plans, and working directly with insurance companies, billing vendors, and collection agencies. The ideal candidate is empathetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital setting. Initiate contact with self-pay patients to discuss financial options and payment plans Perform financial analysis on accounts for charity and sliding scale approvals Assist patients in completing applications for financial assistance Verify insurance for MVA and workers' compensation cases Visit inpatients and ER patients to discuss billing options Answer patient billing inquiries and coordinate with billing companies Maintain strong communication with registration, scheduling, and external vendors Support collections efforts and maintain detailed call logs Cross-train in Registration and Scheduling as needed High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred Prior collections or financial counseling experience is strongly preferred Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work under pressure and manage sensitive situations with professionalism Familiarity with ACA guidelines and Presumptive Eligibility certifications is a plusKey Responsibilities:
