Job Profile Summary
Under general supervision, this position performs a range of specialized complex technical and paraprofessional work in areas of library materials circulation, reserves and the collection of statistical data using the integrated library systems. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and sustainability in the performance of job duties. Performs related duties as assigned.Work Schedule: May work a second shift position; Sunday through Thursday (2:00 PM – 10 PM)
Minimum Education:
Associate degree required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Three years of related library experience. Experience with integrated library systems with a bibliographic utility preferred; with two years supervisory or lead experience required.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Essential Functions:
Daily -25%: Performs full supervisory responsibilities for full time and/or part time staff including planning and scheduling work activities, performance evaluations, training, recruitment, hiring, retention, termination, prioritizing staff workloads, provides feedback, and guides staff. Sets appropriate goals and deadlines. Assigns and monitors progress on work assignments and special projects.
Daily -20%: Prepares and ensures accuracy and completeness of all personnel paperwork and payroll per the College’s policy and procedures. Compiles and shares statistical reports to Associate Dean, Library Services.
Daily -15%: Oversees quality control measures for the integrated library system’s patron database and/or other library systems. Oversees retrieval and interpretation of user records and transactions, resolving discrepancies, and effectively communicating the results. Sends courtesy and overdue notices for library materials.
Daily -10%: Monitors expenditures within a budget as defined by the division or department.
Daily -15%: Supervises library opening and closing procedures to maintain security of the library collection, materials, and resources of the library. Maintains communication with Library Administration, safety agencies regarding all safety incidents during the evening hours. Complete incident reports and share with appropriate administrators and/or law enforcement.
Daily -5%: Assists Library Administration in developing policies and procedures related to specific library functions. Represents the library on appropriate committees and task forces.
Other, as needed -5%: Remains current of latest trends. Attends professional development opportunities.
Other, as needed -5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the general principles and practices of library services and programs.
Knowledge of cataloging principles, LC classification, and OCLC.
