Job Title: Volunteer Training and Recruiting Officer

Department: Learning Outcomes

Reports To: Associate Director of Volunteer Training and Recruiting

Position Type: Full-time, exempt

Summary: The Volunteer Training and Recruiting Officer is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting the volunteers who serve Lambda Chi Alpha Chapters. Working closely with the Associate Director of Volunteer Training and Recruiting, this role helps Chapters build strong advisory teams by promoting volunteer opportunities, identifying and recruiting qualified candidates, delivering high-quality training, and providing ongoing support that enables volunteers to succeed.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute the Fraternity's volunteer recruitment and training strategy, including:
  • Recruiting and onboarding new volunteers.
  • Partnering with Chapters to assess volunteer development needs.
  • Developing chapter-specific training plans using resources available through Lambda Chi Academy.
  • Delivering virtual training sessions via Zoom.
  • Traveling to Chapters to facilitate in-person training and development programs.
  • Train volunteers to confidently facilitate live, in-the-room educational sessions from Lambda Chi Academy.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Outcomes team to develop and continuously improve volunteer training materials, facilitator guides, and educational resources.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective volunteers by identifying, cultivating, and converting qualified candidates into active Advisors.
  • Support Chapters in promoting volunteer opportunities and strengthening local advisor recruitment efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve volunteer engagement, effectiveness, and long-term retention.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, track key performance metrics, and produce reports using Salesforce. 
  • Travel as required to support volunteer recruitment, training, and Chapter development initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Lambda Chi’s strategic objectives.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • Training, coaching, mentoring experience preferred
  • Experience working within Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom
  • Experience working with Salesforce preferred, can be trained if not
  • Initiation into Lambda Chi Alpha required
  • 3-5 years of experience in relationship-building, leadership development, customer relations, and/or volunteer engagement preferred


Key Performance Indicators

  1. In-person Trainings
    1. Execute five in-person Advisory Board training sessions every six months
  2. Certified High Pis (lead advisor)
    1. Ensure 95% of Lambda Chi Alpha chapters have a High Pi
    2. Ensure 100% of Lambda Chi High Pis are certified and have access to Lambda Chi Academy
  3. Certified Advisory Boards (committee composed of at least three volunteers)
    1. Ensure 50% of Lambda Chi Alpha chapters have a certified Advisory Boards
  4. Internal Team Support 
    1. Ensure that internal teams are kept fully appraised of challenges and progress
    2. Ensure that internal enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner: Six hours for holding reply, and 24 hours for a full reply.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Travel is required
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds
