Job Summary:
The OB-ED Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within Erlangerās Obstetric Emergency Department. This position is designed for experienced providers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about maternal and fetal health. This role offers a balanced work-life rhythm with hours from 7:00am-7:00pm or 7:00pm-7:00am. Shifts typically include both day and night coverage, with specific schedule to be discussed during the interview.
The Advance Practice Provider will provide comprehensive evaluation and management of patients presenting to the OB-ED. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate appropriate treatment plans. Support labor and delivery triage and manage obstetric emergencies as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all clinical protocols and safety standards.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Education:
Required:Ā
- Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN).Ā
Preferred:
- Experience in obstetrics, women's health or emergency medicine preferred

- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.

- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of TennesseeĀ
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of TennesseeĀ
- National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP)
- Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty)
- BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

A nurse practitioner is employed by Erlanger Medical Center and is responsible for participating in the diagnosis, treatment and supportive care of patients.
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her clinic. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective o the patient's status. Interpretation of the appropriate information is needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the Nurse Practitioner's protocols.
