Job Description:

Survey Office Practice Leader

Pape-Dawson is seeking a full-time Survey Office Practice Leader based in our Chattanooga office. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning and directing of a land surveying or geospatial practice within a specific RaganSmith office. This role requires technical oversight of staff and leading proposal preparation for practice area. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong client relationships and actively participate in business development.

  • Limited project management

  • Oversee performance of office practice through profitability, budget control, AR/unbilled, WIP, etc. 

  • Develop annual business plan projections

  • Maintain metrics and performance for the practice against the business plan.

  • Coordinate with other practice leaders in managing work between practice areas

  • Manage staff capacity, utilization, and projections

  • Evaluate hiring needs and hire top-tier talent

  • Oversee QA/QC program in the practice

  • Mentor staff within the practice

  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communications throughout the practice.

  • Delegate authority to the Project Managers and ensure effective performance of all assigned functions

  • Maintain professionalism, morale, and equity within the practice through example

  • Have an active role in building community relationships

  • Additional related duties as needed

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree

  • 5+ years of managerial expereince within land surveying

  • Expert knowledge in the practice area

  • Apply a broad knowledge of surveying principles and geomatics expertise to solve complex problems

  • Effective internal and external communication skills

  • Will be a member of one or more professional groups and often will have an active role in building relationships within the community

  • Professional Land Surveyor license in Tennessee, or ability to achieve
