Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement: The Assistant Coach provides support to the Head Coach in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive NCAA Division I sports program. The primary focus of this role is overseeing the technical development of student athletes, assisting with gym organization/practice planning, and supporting recruiting efforts.

Responsibilities include assisting with scouting prospective student-athletes, coaching and developing players, coordinating team travel, managing aspects of program administration, participating in fundraising activities, and performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

The Assistant Coach fosters positive relationships with student-athletes, colleagues, university staff, alumni, and the broader community. A commitment to NCAA, conference, and university rules compliance, as well as the academic success of student-athletes, is essential.


Physical Demands: The scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend, and holiday work (non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and various equipment devices; frequently moves around the facility and event site before, during, and after events; and communicates with others via telephone, email, and in person to exchange accurate information. The position requires standing, walking, kneeling, or crouching, balancing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.


Preferences: Two or more years of coaching experience at the Division 1 collegiate or international level. Experience with volleystation or video analysis software and/or video playback programs.
