Computer Systems/Software Engineer - Mid to Senior

Amentum is seeking engineering professionals with  related education and/or experience to support Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA. You will be part of our growing systems & software engineering team and contribute to our diverse skillsets across multiple prime contracts in support of our Centers of Excellence.

Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and interact directly with customers and engineering personnel.

The work location for this position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia where we have provided support to the customer for over 50 years!

**Position contingent on contract award which is expected in March 2026**

All Level Minimum Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

• Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license required for access to customer site and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft etc. are not permitted) as this position requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

Minimum Requirements and Skills based on Years of Experience:

Senior Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.  
• Ten (10) years professional technical experience which includes at least five (5) years specialized experience performing computer hardware engineering, software design, coding and compilation of code; computer or software requirements management, computer systems or software integration; and utilizing systems engineering software tools. 
• Specialized experience with development of Real-Time VxWorks Symmetric Multi Processing (SMP) software. 

Desired Senior Experience

• Expertise related to hardware and software development for Standard Missile (SM)-2, SM-3, SM-6, and Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) missile internal interfaces, such as experience with SM-3 Kill Warhead Data Link (KWDL), SM-3 Missile Test Data (MTD), SM-2/Sm-6 initialization message digital interface, and vertical launch system.

Mid-Level Requirements

•  A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline. 
• Five (5) years professional technical experience which includes at least three (3) years specialized experience performing computer hardware engineering, software design, 

  coding and compilation of code; computer or software requirements management, computer systems or software integration; and utilizing systems engineering software 
  tools. 

• Specialized experience shall also include demonstrated ability to engineer complex systems with integrated software and hardware solutions.

Desired Mid Level Experience

• Experience related to weapons systems or Navy programs and HTML, C/C++, Unix and Linux is desired.
